David Birch, CEO, Consult Hyperion
David G.W. Birch is CEO of Consult Hyperion, the IT management consultancy that specialises in electronic transactions, where he provides specialist consultancy support to clients around the world. Before helping to found Consult Hyperion in 1986, he spent several years working as a consultant in Europe, the Far East and North America. He graduated from the University of Southampton with a B.Sc (Hons.) in Physics. Described by The Independent newspaper as a "grade-A geek", by the Centre for the Study of Financial Innovation as "one of the most user-friendly of the UK's uber-techies" and by Financial World as "mad", Dave is a member of the editorial board of the E-Finance & Payments Law and Policy Journal and of the advisory board for European Business Review, a columnist for SPEED and UK correspondent to the Journal of Internet Banking and Commerce. He has lectured to MBA level on the impact of new information and communications technologies, contributed to publications ranging from the Parliamentary IT Review to Grocery Trader and wrote more than 100 Second Sight columns for The Guardian. He is a media commentator on electronic business issues and has appeared on BBC television and radio, Sky and other channels around the world.

Francesco Iarlori, International Business Developer - ICT Advisor -Independent Journalist, TheBestAdvise.com project
Francesco Iarlori has been active in the mobile industry since the mid 90s and has been an active management consultant liaising with multinational companies since this time. Past work includes the Iridium project in Arizona for Sun Microsystems and the WISHES project in Europe, which supported the first mobile payments systems in North and Southern Europe (involving Nokia, TeliaSonera, and Gemalto). Francesco joined Omnitel in 1999 (now Vodafone Italy) where he participated in the Omnitel 2000 project (for Vodafone live!), subsequently moving to set up the Vodafone Business division. Francesco Joined TTYL (the Telenor mobile branch) in 2001 and was instrumental in implementing the first cross messaging solution over a mobile across Europe. Within Siemens he participated to defining and selling global solutions for media & content download, RFID-SMS parking systems and UMTS wireless camera systems. Since spring 2007 he has worked within the Value Partners Group working in the mobile commerce and mobile advertising arena developing new business models and aiding technological adoption such as NFC and QR codes within the retail and brand sectors. Franceso holds a degree in computer science from Pisa University (Italy) and is an active columnist in industry magazines and blogs, as well as covering advisory roles within UN and EC projects.

Alexandre Berthaud, Remittance Specialist, Payment Systems Development Group, World Bank, US
Alexandre Berthaud is Remittance Specialist at the World Bank Payment Systems and Development Group, where he leads the Secretariat of the G8 Global Remittances Working Group. He also coordinates the Global Public-Private Partnership on Remittances. Prior to this, he was the General Manager of Envíos Confianza, a Remittance Service Provider composed of microfinance institutions in Mexico, where he started an M-banking project for rural areas.
Alexandre holds a BA in Political Science and a Masters in Development from Sciences Po Paris. He also graduated with a Master of International Affairs from Columbia University.

András Vilmos, SEMOPS / SafePay Systems, Hungary
András Vilmos, managing director of SafePay Systems Ltd. has held different leading management positions at major companies. A few years ago he launched his own financial consulting company focusing on mobile payments and mobile banking systems.
To design and develop a real time universal electronic payment service, Mr. Vilmos organized the SEMOPS (Secure Mobile Payment Service) consortium. Currently, Mr. Vilmos is coordinating the implementation of the service in multiple countries.
Mr. Vilmos is also project manager of the StoLPaN project, which will define the commercial and technical frameworks for a single-platform multi-application NFC environment hosted in mobile handsets.
Mr. Vilmos has a number of patents related to online payments and is the author of various publications on the topic of e- and m-payments.

He was responsible for the development and architecture of Mobiquity - Bharti Telesoft's Mobile Financial Services product. He has experience of designing solution and structuring products across emerging markets of South Asia , Middle East and Africa.He has experience in working in India, Americas and the EMEA region in the area of Market & Industry Assessment, Product and Technology Management, Business Process Re- engineering, Business Contingency Planning, New Product Development. His 12 years of experience spans both telecommunications and Financial services Industry. Ashish is a leading media spokesperson in the area of mCommerce. He is frequently quoted in top-notch publications internationally and has also written columns for the online portal of CNBC in India. Ashish holds an MBA and Bachelors in Engineering (Electrical) from Bombay University.

Christian Séré-Annichini, Head of New Business Development, SFR, France
Christian Séré-Annichini is in charge of the New Business team within SFR (major French telco), which includes the mobile NFC topic. SFR has been leading mobile NFC developments in France, and is a member of the Pegasus (NFC payment) and Ulysse (NFC transport) groups. Christian joined SFR in 2003, as Head of Terminals and SIM Cards marketing from 2003 to 2007. He worked previously in the automotive industry (Peugeot, 1994-1999) and strategic consulting business (McKinsey & Co, 2000-2003).

David Meyer, MVNO Manager, Experian
D. Meyer was graduated 1996 from ESIEA (French engendering school specialized in IT, electronic and Automatic) After two years working in the IT Integration department of British Telecom he joined the Program Management at Bouygues Telecom for four years. In charge of the coordination of Bouygues Telecom IT commercial system, he managed more than 60 people around projects as the integration of PREVENTEL solution with the Bouygues telecom information system. Changing mobile area for fixed line and DSL operator he built as business engineer at neuf telecom the private label offer for bank and run businesses like "Cario" with Credit Agricole and "Guideo" with Banque Populaire (two virtual internet service provider offered fixed line and DSL branded with their name) Three years ago he joined Experian and propose to penetrate the MVNO business. Working first on the marketing of the MVNE offer of Experian, he’s in charge today of the BU dedicated to MVNO. Successful with Carrefour mobile and tele2, his mission consist on developing new MVNO deals worldwide, marketing new offers for telco and making partnerships with MNOs.

Dominic Peachey, Senior Policy Adviser, Wholesale & Prudential Policy Division, Financial Services Authority (UK)
Dominic read Geography at the University of Oxford and pursued postgraduate studies in demography in Mexico between 1973 and 1976. From 1976 to 1996, Dominic worked in the Corporate Finance Division of Kleinwort Benson Limited, the UK Merchant Bank. His merchant banking career embraced the full range of corporate finance activities: mergers and acquisitions, IPOs and secondary offerings (equity and debt), capital reconstructions, project financings and privatisation advisory work in the UK, mainland Europe, South East Asia and Latin America. In 1997 Dominic moved to the UK National Audit Office where he worked as a consultant on the forensic audit of the privatisation of Railtrack PLC. In 1998 he moved into financial supervision first with the Building Societies Commission and then, from 1999 to 2000, he worked for the Financial Services Authority as a supervisor of retail financial institutions. Since 2000 he has worked as a Policy Advisor in the Wholesale and Prudential Policy Division of the FSA. Dominic's policy responsibilities include Operational Risk, professional indemnity insurance and outsourcing but his major area of expertise covers electronic money, e-banking, mobile banking, and electronic and cross-border payment services. He was responsible for implementing into UK Law the European Union Directives on the regulation of electronic money. He also advised the European Commission on the application of e-money regulation to payments by mobile phone. He has also worked on the prudential and technical side of the Payment Services Directive.

Hadi Nahari is a software security professional with over 17 years of experience in all aspects of software development lifecycle, including extensive work in design and architecture, verification, proof-of-concept, and implementation of secure software systems. Hadi has worked on large scale, high-end enterprise solutions, as well as resource-constrained embedded systems, with primary focus on security, cryptography, complex systems design, and Vulnerability Assessment & Threat Analysis. Hugh Cockwill, Chief Operating Officer, The Light Agency

Jonathan MacDonald, Senior Consultant to the CEO & Chairman, Global Mobile Strategy, Ogilvy Group, UK
Jonathan MacDonald started freelance consulting in 1991. Since then, he has consulted over 100 companies as well as building several of his own businesses and accepting a few Directorships.
Currently his prime contract is Ogilvy where he is the Senior Consultant to the CEO & Chairman and is structuring the Global mobile strategy. Prior to this, Jonathan was a Director of the world's first purely ad-funded Mobile Network: Blyk. As one of the original team, Jonathan shaped the overall business strategy in the sales, operations, analytics and creative departments.
Before this, Jonathan was the Commercial Director of Ministry of Sound, CEO of a Sky TV Channel, Chairman of the Music Industries Association.
He is also the founder of a communications movement called Every Single One Of Us which seeks to unite a wide cross-section of mobile operators, advertising agencies, big-name brands and members of the public; to educate the industry and encourage discussions about emerging business models and to facilitate a step change in communications.

Jonathan MacDonald, Senior Consultant to the CEO & Chairman, Global Mobile Strategy, Ogilvy Group, UK
Graduate of the 1986 promotion in Electrical Engineering at Laval University (Canada) Martin Nappert has 21 years of experience in the field of Telecommunications. He has spent 12 years with Nortel Networks where he created and directed the Multi Media Carrier Switch Business Unit, with assignments in Canada, and expatriation in France and in the USA. In 2000, he joined Maple Optical Network as EMEA VP of Business Development, in the field MPLS and G-MPLS Routing for Carrier Networks. In 2002, he joined FERMA as Chief Technical Officer where he extended the portfolio towards Next Generation Networks. Martin Nappert, CTO, Eserv Global, France
Mary Carol joined Visa Europe from 02 UK in February 2008 to lead Visa's mobile product development. Her role at Visa Europe focuses on how mobile cuts across the business to drive Visa Europe's key strategic objectives. At O2 UK, she led a team that delivered the O2 Wallet NFC trial, currently Europe's largest and most comprehensive trial of Near Field Communications. The service brought together a number of industry leaders and suppliers to test this capability on a large scale in the UK with consumers. Prior to that, she was Head of Marketing at Upaid, a small start up company based in London and Paris that worked with banks and operators across Eastern Europe and North Africa to launch some of the early SMS based mobile payments services offered on the market. Mary Carol has over 8 years, experience in delivering mobile payments solutions to the market. Her specialty is working where financial and mobile services intersect. She has a particular interest in Near Field Communications and contactless services as well as mobile user interface. Mary Carol holds a Masters from the Institut d’etudes politiques de Paris (Sciences-Po) after having completed her BA in the United States at the University of the South (Sewanee). She is fluent in French and Italian.

Rita Pires Teixeira, Head of Content and Data Services, TMN - Portugal Telecom Group
Rita joined the Portugal Telecom Group in October 2003. She has had several positions as project and department manager in PT Comunicações (the Fixed line company), Sapo (the Internet company) and TMN (the Mobile company). During this period she also took a year to do an MBA at Insead in France and Singapore. Prior to that, she was a consultant for Diamondcluster International, a consulting company specialized in telecoms, where she completed several projects in Portugal, India, Belgium and Colombia.
Her actual role is as Head of Content and Data Services Department. This is a service management, development and research department, in charge of a vast portfolio of services like Mobile Broadband, Wi Fi, Mobile Payments, Mobile TV, Music, Ring tones, Ring back tones, Games, Location Based services, etc.

Robyn Durie, Regulatory Council, T-Mobile UK, UK
Robyn is Regulatory Counsel at T-Mobile (UK), a position she has held for 5 years. Her job involves the legal aspects of all regulatory matters, including spectrum, and competition law. She also heads up the regulatory and competition department. Her responsibilities include all spectrum matters, competition litigation, major transactions and advising on the regulatory aspects of mobile tv.
Prior to joining T-Mobile she was a partner at Linklaters for 11 years, heading up their communications practice. In her deep dark past she worked in television for 3 years for Rupert Murdoch in Australia.

Roy Vella, Director of Mobile, Royal Bank of Scotland
Mr. Vella joined RBS is April 2008 and is responsible for the overall strategy and implementation of Mobile efforts including the development of new products and services, stored value functionality, mobile enabled payments, customer acquisition and the management of joint venture partners. Previously to RBS he spent five years with PayPal starting out as Director of Business Development in the US Merchant Services group, and then as Head of Mobile Payments leading the mobile payments initiative in Europe.
Previous to PayPal, Mr. Vella worked as the VP of Sales & Marketing at 4charity, Inc. (a software startup focusing on corporate philanthropy for the Fortune 500), and, prior to that, as a Partner at Quantum Technology Ventures (a corporate VC firm focusing on the storage industry). As an entrepreneur, Mr. Vella co-founded NetAbacus Corporation, a web-based purchasing service for small businesses, serving as the VP of Marketing/Strategic Relations. When the market turned in mid-2000, he facilitated the acquisition of NetAbacus by Biztro and the combined entity became Rivio, where he was responsible for channel marketing and customer acquisition.
Before graduate school, he began his career in Client Service at the Leo Burnett Company in Chicago, working with such clients as Sony Consumer Electronics and Miller Brewing. Actively involved in the non-profit sector, Roy serves on the Board of Directors of the Stanford Business School Alumni Association and is also the Board President Emeritus of Variety Children's Charity of Northern California. Formerly, for over 8 years he was the Board Treasurer of BATS Improv, an improvisational school and theater company.
Roy received a BA in Mathematics (with High Honors) from the College of the Holy Cross, a JD from Stanford Law School, and an MBA (with certificates in Global and Public Management) from the Stanford Graduate School of Business. He currently lives in London with his wife, Karen, their son, Griffin, and daughter, Xan, and dog, Mizu. While hobbies have truly taken a back seat to family life these days, he enjoys outdoor sports and travel adventures.
